Abstract
The transformation towards sustainable tourism demands a new paradigm that is not only oriented towards the economy and ecology but also upholds moral values and spirituality. This study aims to develop a conceptual model of Islamic Green Tourism through the integration of the Maqashid al-Shari‘ah principles and ecological justice as the ethical and philosophical foundation of sustainable development. The method employed is library research with a normative-philosophical approach, reviewing literature on Islamic economics, environmental governance, and green tourism. The research findings indicate that the principles of Maqashid al-Shari‘ah which emphasize justice ('adl), balance (tawazun), and public welfare (maslahah) are capable of expanding the meaning of sustainability beyond mere environmental preservation and economic efficiency to include social and spiritual well-being. The integration of ecological justice strengthens the dimension of sustainability by positioning nature as an entity with intrinsic value and the right to be protected. This paradigm positions Islamic Green Tourism as a means of moral and social transformation that fosters harmony between humans, the environment, and God. The theoretical implications of this study provide a foundation for the formulation of equitable tourism policies that align with Islamic values and strengthen the direction of sustainable development in Indonesia. This study recommends the development of an Islamic Green Tourism Policy Framework, which includes: (1) the implementation of halal and environmentally friendly certification standards for tourist destinations; (2) fiscal incentives for tourism businesses that apply the principles of sustainability and ecological justice; (3) empowerment of local communities through a community-based tourism approach; and (4) the integration of environmental ethics education and Islamic spirituality in tourism training. These recommendations are expected to strengthen the direction of sustainable tourism development policies in Indonesia, aligning with Islamic values and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
